Question about bass for catfish

    I have seen some threads about using bass for bait, and thought i may give it a shot sometime..But is it even legal?????

    Matt according the Ohio laws it is legal as long as you catch them with R/R. They also have to be the minimum keeper length

    Check your reg's or call a game warden to be sure but in most states if it is a legal fish taken by legal means it is yours to do with as you wish.

    Bass are not legal bait fish in many states. Hell, in Utah, you can't use any live fish for bait except minnows that come from the place you fish. Many states prohibit the use of game fish for bait, including in a few, catfish. Try using a 10" bass in Texas, get caught by the game warden, and the fine will equal the next payment on a new truck. When I looked at your state's regs, I was surprised to see almost no mentiion of legal baitfish.
