this rod holder slides on the post of your boat seat, very easy to make
after cutting the proper length and getting the proper angle i want the rod, i then glued and painted, then placed a neoprene cup holder where the rod goes for protection
    two 1 1/2 inch pvc "Y" connectors
about 15-18 inch of 1 1/2 inch pvc

I'll have to agree with kip. I made some similar to yours in the past and when they get a big fish run on em they'll crack for sure!

thats why i use baitrunners, also this seems stronger than the pole holders i have mounted on my boat now

my pole will break into pieces before that holder gives in, i couldn't break that thing over my knee if i tried, if i had any dout's i wouldn't use it, this is very sturdy

I like it!!!! they will break. I can't believe that these are not marketed. I don't think they would break if you have your drag set right, or using a baitrunner.

they are similar to netmanjack's PVC bank rod holders his are 33" long Lenny's aren't as long so they should be much stronger schedule 40 pvc is pretty tough especially in short lengths they will never break in a thousand years again following what Finster said set your baitrunner or drag no tension goes on the rod holder at all it's all freespool till you set your main drag then you will have the rod in your hands reeling the fish in:cool2:
