 As soon as I got home my daughter (3 years old) & oldest son (7 years old) were dying to go fishing. Usually at night durign the week it's a no go becasue it's too hard to control all three kids, but my other son (also 3 years old) is still out of town with my mom & dad, so I said sure lets go. I grabbed 3 rods & a bag of frozen shad. I figured it would make my sons day if we landed a couple turtles. The turtles were hitting, but not hard enough to be hooked on our circle hooks, but..... My son was lucky enough to land his 1st ever channel cat, basically all by himself. I took the rod out of the rod holder & gave it to him, he did the rest. I grabbed the camera & out it on movie mode & got a nice 1 minute 35 second video of the whole thing. I wish I could upload the movie to show you all. I know it's not big, but man was he happy, I was too! My girl was jealous. I was proud of both of them, this is a fairly hard area to fish, but they did great. As soon as my wife figures out it was the same place that I was wading in to remove the sang that Jack posted a few days ago she will have a cow! I dont think she wanted me taking them there (prob for good reason). The toolls were as follows: Pinnacle Power Tip Rod (1st time out) Abu 6500 Trophy Reel 15# Mossy Oak Mono Line 6/0 Mustad Demon Circle Hook 2inch piece of frozen shad as bait Oh yea..... I got skunked, but have never been happier. We fished for about 1 1/2 hours, maybe a little less.
