I don't do alot of river fishing. I like to stick to the lakes. But I was thinking about trying the river this year. What is everyones preferred bait that you use when river fishing? I don't own a boat(yet) so i'll be bank fishing. I'd just like to know so I have an idea on what to bring. Thanks

I'll be hitting the river this afternoon with frozen skipjack, and shad I caught in the cast net last night. If I can get the fish to cooperate today, I'll post back with what was productive.

we use bluegill and goldfish 5-10 inches for flatheads and cut shad for blues and then worms for channel. worms seem to the worst for catchin other fish (perch and carp).

I either use cutbait, cutbait, or cutbait.

Live and cut bait. I've had good luck with stink baits, nightcrawlers, liver, etc. in lakes, but not in rivers. Cut shad/carp is my #1 river bait.
