    The other day my buddy found out he has leucemia. Great person and wonderful friend. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to raise money for him. His family will be hurting for money for bills bad. Thanks!

    Dear Brother Hashman;
    Damn Kevin! Thats a really rough one!! :sad2:
    I don't know where in IN you live but there is a cancer Dr. on the east side of Evansville that would be the very FIRST person I would call if I was diagnosed with any kind of cancer! PM me if you want the name.
    This Dr. as able to give my late mother another 2 years of life and for all but about the last month, it was quality time too!:smile2: That was over 10 years ago and I know they, Medical Science, are doing even more remarkable things today so I will say a prayer and light a candle for Your Friend and hope that a cure exists for his particular brand of cancer.
    Man, that is one word I have come to hate with a passion!!!:angry:
    For whatever reason, a thought just came to me. You might have him check into those "Cancer Treatment Centers of America" too! The worst they could do is say "no". Would not hurt to check it out!
    Hope all of this helps somehow!! Soon as I send this I am signing off to go lite that candle and start the prayers and "Prayer chains".
    Please keep us, the BOC Bro's and Sis's, informed as best you can and please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance in any way, shape, or form!
    Fraternally and Sincerely,
    Coyote1

    Cancer knows no age limits. It is a terrible disease for anyone to have. I lost my brother-in-law back in June 2002 to Cancer He was only 47. I will pray for your friend Brother!:sad2:

    Kevin, I'm really sorry to hear about your buddy's diagnosis and will sure keep him and his family in prayers for healing and provision.
    As far as raising money... in our small town, folks often put up notices and jars around the local businesses to gather collections and sometimes the local Scouting troups and other organizations do fund-raisers for the families.
    One thing... I don't think they can take your house over medical bills, so maybe some debt consolidation early on can help ease the monthly requirements. Maybe check with the local church and community aid folks... I went through a time alone with kids here when they were a really big help with food and clothing.

    Thoughts and prayers from Illinois Kevin. Around here they benefit dances. Call em Chicken and Beer dances. Feed them some chicken and beer, let em dance and charge for the entire evenings event. I dont know how "appropiate" something like this might be for your friend but had one for a friend that suffered an aneurism. The band donated their time and the american legion donated the hall.

    Hope this helps, Dru
