Fished between Ft Belvoir and Quantico on Sunday. Kinda tough getting bait but we managed a couple hanfulls of mud shad in a hour or so. Caught 4 fish between 20 and 25 lbs and 4 more between 10 and 20 and a few dinks. Pretty slow overall. We fished shallow to deep with best fish comming from 30 to 50'. Pretty day and weather man lied, he said it was going to be 78 deg and a south wind. Well the wind blew N for the most part until late in the evening when it laid down. I was counting on that S wind for the incomming tide. Water temp from 55 in the creeks to 47 on the main river.

    Billy,

Nice trip. BTW, what are mud shad? I have never heard of them before. Thanks.

I think they are gizzard shad. We always just called them mud shad as they like the mud flats and are here most of the winter.
