Heading out next Wednesday to fish the Potomac. Going to be putting in at Marshall Hall. If anyone has any recent reports (where the bait is and where the fish are hitting) for the area it would be much appreciated.

Tomorrow heading out bright and early. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate. Suppose to be mid-70s, partly cloudy with 2-5mph of wind. A fine day for missing work and hitting the water. I'll pot some pics and a report once we get back.

Fish should be accross the river and down a little. 30 to 45' was hot last weekend for us. Bait should be close to where you put in on the flat or over on the channel edge. I marked pleanty of bait in the channel if you are good at deep water castnetting. We caught our cutter size gizzards down river just inside of high point in 4 to 6' of water. We put in a neabsco so High point is on the way up. Good luck and let us know what you caught.

Well had a good day of fishing. Put in at Marshall Hall around 0730 and fished up to Fort Washington. We only worked the stretch of water between those two points. Used cut white perch and blue fish as bait. The blue fish seemed to attract a lot of attention for about the first 15 minutes in the water, but the effect soon wore off. The bait had been in the freezer and was a little mushy and soon slid off the hook.

Weather was fantastic. Hardly any wind at all, a lot less weeds and logs than there was a week ago. Water temperature varied from 60 to 63 degrees and the air temperature was a pleasant 65 to 75.

Now to the fish... We caught a total of 10 fish. 6 - under 10lb, 2 - 15lbers, 1 - 27lber, and one real nice 45lber. The fish were biting best during the morning before noon. Fort Washington just into the channel is where the best action was. Pulled back into the boat ramp at 1700 and headed home.

Here are some of the pics...

thats a good day and the waters of the potomac is as good as you will find antwhere our tournament last week showed everybody that. When you have 96 fish checked in at a tournament and 79 are from 18 to 50 lbs that a catfish river .

Congrats of the big fish. If you can throw a decent size castnet you should be able to get some shad on the river. Just about any creek flat, look for flippers or near the drops, mark on your sonar . Frozen blue is good but like you found it like any other frozen fish will turn to mush. If the blue were small like 1 to 3lb the the heads should be a decent bait. Hook thru both lips of the mouth to keep the mouth shut in the current. Heads always catch fish and stay on the hook:big_smile: .
