When this picture was first taken it got labeled as 20lbs by my firend, which it is obviously not, then changed to 29lbs as a guess. What weight would you guess this fish to weigh. I am sure it was at least 30lbs, but not sure exactly how much. I beleive the lenght was a little over 36 in maybe more. Girth was large but not measured.

There is no way to be sure. Pictures sometimes make things bigger or smaller than they actually are. I would say no more than 29 pounds.

I am with Shane, there isn't a real good comparison to give an accurate guess.

Well, its real hard to judge some pics and all I can say is thats a nice cat! Big head, if the length was 36", the fish was probably in the upper 20's.

Ya thats a good way to go I agree 30lbs is fair but when your telling everyone 49lbs is a good number for a fish story.

Its right around 30lbs. by looks in the picture sometimes they can fool you. You can get a cheep scale at walmart that would give you somewhat of an idea.

Having looked at no less than several thousand photos of Bluecats these past few years, it's still no easier to guess weights. :smile2:

In all fairness though, I would have to say your holding between a 30 and 32 pound fish just as the others have stated. Usually on the 30 pound fish the head appears to be disproportionatly large to the rest of the body which yours does.

Nonetheless, Congrats on a great fish.

I actually have scales, just sometimes forget them, or lose them. I used the length girth measurement method and I am sure it was right around 30 as well. Thanks for the imput, all bass anglers think it is a 40lb and up but they don't know anything about big fish.

I am going to guess about 25lbs from the pic. You really need to buy a scale!

That looks bigger than some of my 50 or 60 pounders I've caught. (all my fish are always 50 or up)
