It may or may not be a new record the weight of the fish is 55lbs. which is the present record weight from Germany. This fish was caught in Italy.
This is just an amazing fish

It won't be a world record. There has been a couple over 60 caught in some other country in europe. I'm pretty sure the record is 63.

Currently, the IGFA recognizes a 55 lb, 1 oz pike caught by Lothar Louis in Lake of Grefeern, Germany on October 16, 1986 as the all-tackle Northern Pike world record. Northern Pikes in North America seldom reach the size of their European counterparts, however, one of the largest being a 20.9 kg (46 lbs) specimen from New York state.

Here is the picture of the current world record pike

Wow, I wonder why the ones I know of aren't the record? There have been a few caught bigger than that on record.

OK here is the straight skinny on the pike was caught by a customer of a well respected guide who fishes for pike all around the world. The pike was caught at Lake Maggiore in N.Ireland. The pike bottomed out a 55lb. digital scale before snapping a couple pictures and being released. My hat goes off to the gentelman responsible for releasing what would have almost definately been crowned the new record

Hello again bros. Nothing like catching a freshwater shark. I might have dropped the rod when I seen that log surface.

That's one heck of a 'gator! Reason number 100 I want to fish Europe some time in my life! That's just insane. And two thumbs up for the live release, hopefully next time it's caught someone has a heavier scale.
