I'm not very knowledgeable about boats on the river so I have a question. I've been offered a 24' pontoon with a 50 horse evinrude(I think) CHEAP . I would likely fish mainly the Missouri River between St. Charles and Jefferson City. Is a toon a good river boat? How do they fair with the current compared to other boats. Let me know how they work for you good and bad.
    Thanks!

    The good, bad and ugly....lol

    I have a 24 ft lowe w/ 50hp Evin w/cmc trim/tilt.. Been running the MS for about 6/7 years.

Good....Comfortable, roomy and stable. Trailers very well. Excellent fishing platform.

Bad....Not the swiftest thing on the water. Need a good RIVER anchor (chene).

Ugly...Best find a rather quite cove to launch/load. If the wind is blowing and the current is swift it's a nightmare to say the least.

    But, I'm happy...Good luck
