The national debt is something like 7 trillion dollars (give or take a trillion) and if you spend a dollar a second, it would take 221,963 years to spend it all. Not taking Leap years into account. I don't think even my wife could do that!

    1 second X 60 = 1 min. (60 sec.)
    1 min. X 60 = 1 hour (3600 sec.)
    1 hour X 24 = 24 hours or 1 day (86,400 sec.)
    1 day X 365 = 1 year (8,760 hours) (31,536,000 sec.)
    1 century (100 years) = (876,000 hours) (52,560,000 min.) (3,153,600,000 seconds)
    1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion) divided by 3,153,600,000 (seconds in a year) = 31,709 years (999,975,024,000 seconds)
    31,709 years X 7 = 221,963 years total.

I'm old, so I used the old math. Apparently the politicians use a different sort of math. Scarry isn't it.

No animals were hurt during this calculation but I did loose several fingers.:sad2:

Russell thanks for sharing. Interesting for sure. That is a lot of cyphering. No wonder you have sore fingers.
