planner boards

    does anyone use plannerboards ? how fast do you have to go to get them to work. i need them to work at .5 to 1. any help will be appreciated.

    Mark, I tried some a while back while drift fishing on the lake, but the wind wasn't very strong, and my speed was below .4 mph. The planer didn't really work very well for me, but I plan to try them again in the river when I get a chance.

    The biggest issue I have had with planer boards is the low speed when drifting for cats. I am just not drifting fast enough.

    I think bobbers may be a better approach to get the baits away from the boat and suspend them.
