I have permission to fish an extremely deep pit and I was just wondering what the best way to fish for cats would be in a pit. all the way on the bottom? slip bobber? not fish for cats at all?
Its got monster bass and huge carp and huge bluegills. supposedly theres some flatheads down in there somewhere. I've caught channel cats off deep diving rapala's other then that I really don't know how to catfish pits all to well.

Well for the flatheads look for cover or a break or something that draws your eye. You may have to fish livebait under a slip bobber espescialy if the thermalcline(?) has the bottom of the lack oxygenless. Some of the deepest pits around here dont have any fish in the bottom third or so. For channel, bobbers and worms, stinkbait etc will work.
