I have never felt threatened or the need for a firearm while fishing. But looks like I will be adding a new peice of equpt. to the old Bass Tracker next season. It is really getting bad when a guy can't fish the waters of our state/country without fear of being robbed or worse.
Word is the pirates (what else can you call them) took the guys bucket of pearch.:angry::angry::angry:

i guess you can never let your guard down. should we now start firing a warning shot across the bow of an approaching vessel like the Navy does when threatened? gettin jacked on the water, how low must one be to take advantage of a man fishin? you do sh!t like that down here and youll find youself sleepin with the gators.

Wow, I wouldn't try that around here.

Isn't it illegal to have a gun while you fish in some states? Seems like I heard that was the case in Georgia; if so, I have no intentions of obeying anything so bogus.

Now I see why these guys in this picture were escorting us as we came into Newport Rhode Island harbor.

I have a concealed carry licence but hardly ever exercise the right. And I am sure if I ever had to hurt someone or worse that it would haunt me the rest of my life. But it looks like it has reached the point where people have no choice but to arm themselves. Wonder if Ohio's Castle Doctrine Law covers boats the same as cars? Does anyone Know?
Once these thugs realize that in 2-3 minutes they can get thousands of dollars worth of equiptment and tackle from some boats it is going to happen much more often.
    Maybe a flare gun at 10 ft.:big_smile_2:

There's are only two people guaranteed to be at a crime scene...the criminal and the intended victim. That's why these "pirates" get away with it...no police or witnesses. Of course that works for both parties...they try to rob you and you shoot them dead...no police and no witnesses. "Gee officer, I was fishing in that cove all day and never noticed that body...what a shame. Looks like a suicide to me." :cool2:

Oh man, Oh man...that boils my blood. I hate thieves and liars...to me they are one in the same. But to take it to a guy out fishing is a new take on an old problem...piracy. That's it, I am not going to hold back when I am on the water, I am gonna get a Obama chia pet and knock em out if that happens to me...err

i pretty sure you can carry a gun here in ga. while fishing,a pistol can't be conciled(sp.) unless you have a permit.i carry my pistol,& .22 rifle 90% of the time.been checked by game warden several times, they've never said anything about it.oh well it'll still be there just not in plain sight.a would be criminal knows his choices when he approaches,is it for show or is it for go.i just hope they choose what they can live with, cause i'll have to live with it too.but i'll do what i have to do.

The one you have to be scared of is the one that just up and shoots you for no reason. If I were a pirate, I would just put up a distress flag, wait on someone to help me, then bang! No talk, no bravado, no warning. Any pirate worth his salt, isn't going to give you the time needed to defend your self. If you show that you are armed, then they can quickly turn the situation to a plea for help or directions, then you are only left to guess what their true intent was. It's not much of a defence saying : well your honor, I thought he was just getting to close for comfort so I shot him.

if someone is so scared of other people that they would shoot just for getting too close, then they need to stay in the safety of their own house.thats just too scarey.
