Oops on the previous post... anyway, the pipeline is downtown richmond, i think 12th street right where the river walk starts. Cut through the floodwall and walk the pipe upriver until the end of the pipe. Plenty of pools holding flatheads from the bank and some really nice deep holes all around the islands. I've never heard of catfish ally.

Hey Andrew, dont know where "catfish alley" is but im very famiiar with the pipeline area. Its right behind the old reynolds metal plant in shockoe bottom, just pass the manchester bridge(turn right if coming from s.side/left from downtown)youll see a little drive/cut through on your right, just pass the boat canal theres a small parking area in the rear(actually plant is closed down now, most people park in their lot).Best flat action has already passed early april-late may,its all based on herring/shad runs and high water.flats/blues/ocassional striper, set up behind huge bridge pylons on the pipeline catwalk, theres nothing like fighting a 20-35lb flat, especially when he hits the rapids"snap" of your line heard for miles!!.Catch a lot of eater size blues too 5-10lb,everything needs to come together annual fish migrations/high water,at regular levels, theres not enough water for the bigguns to stay there, usually every spring we get those high//muddy spells in the river and its on,not too say you cant gettem at reg levels, just not as much action,bluegil/shad/herring(if you can keepem alive),even caughtem on white perch and small bass, not picky eaters by any means, hope this helps you out.-Rob
