I think it would be very helpful to all of us (especially those of us new to fishing) if we started a thread showing our bait on hooks.

There are sure a bunch of differant kinds of bait that we use for catching catfish, and I would guess many differant ways of using it.
    • worms
    • liver
    • dip baits
    • cut baits
    • dough balls
    • etc...
Maybe you could state what kind of hook and what size hooks you are using along with any tips as to how you bait the hooks?

Maybe if we had a good collection of pictures we could then add this to the BOC Library?

    Just a suggestion.
    Has this been done?
    What do you all think?

    SHOW US THE BAIT!!!!!!!

That is a great idea Tony, I was searching the BOC Library last week for that very thing. I'll have to see if I can get some pics that I can contribute to this thread.

That's a great idea, everyone sets their bait a little different and comparing others to your own would be interesting, plus new ideas are always a good thing.

Great pics although what kind of catfish would bite into those baits? Lets keep this thread limited to catfish baits only.

Also, please add some descriptions to your pictures. (Hook size, maybe sinker size, or maybe just a note or two about why you like this setup, or what to avoid, etc..).

I really think that a lot can be shared and learned this way.

    Keep em' coming.
I can't wait to see those pics!

Yeah, with the stingray, sharks in the ocean eat them. Catfish like eels, but that looks like it was rigged for saltwater (striper, bluefish maybe). Nice pics though.

Grate idea, I can use the help. Most of my fishing in the past has been for chanels and am not sure how to bait the hooks for blues and flats

We (Boog & I) use pretty much only cut bait, usually 'gills (heads are best, in my experience).

Attached is a photo of a bait ready to cast. Rig is a 1 oz egg sinker over a swivel (1/0), with a bead in between. Then about an 18" leader and a 6/0 Gama Octopus Circle hook.

I also would like to see first hand at some pics of different ways other people put the baits on their hooks. I will personally take some pics myself this weekend and upload them to this post. I am looking foward to learning many different methods of baiting a hook.

Those are good looking rigs but I think I would use bigger hooks or stinger rigs with that big of baits.
