Ok, I had an awesome night. I have only caught one flathead before tonight and tonight I caught two. One was my personal best at 12 pounds and the other was around 4 pounds. I know 12 pounds is not a lot for a flattie, but for me it was AWESOME!!

Thats pretty good for this time of the year, and the first few flatheads are some of the best.

Nice catch. It greats going out one night and catching your personal best. But there is only one thing to do now: that is to catch one that's even bigger.

I know the feeling. The first time I went out and actually targeted flatheads I caught four. They were all under 10lbs but I'd never caught any before so to me they were brutes. LOL That was an awesome night for me back then.

Dieter, 12#s is a big fish! I bet it had your heart racing. Did it give you a good fight? I've had six pounders fight like twenty.lol It's not always the size of the fish in the fight, but the size of the fight in the fish! :D lol
    Way to go brother!

    Thanks guys.

Aparently there is something a little different about a flathead bite compared to a channel or blue, at least there was with these two. Initially BOTH of these fish never really took the bait. It was almost like there were bumping it until I moved it a little, then BOOM! I was pulling it away really slow, almost like a Carolina rigged worm, and that is when they hit it. Both were on bluegill heads.

They do bite differently than blues or channels, most times.
Congratulations on your new PB.
