I'll be happy if I just catch one this weekend. I'm going to buy a river rod combo today. Is it pretty important to have a big net if I get any with size to them?

Tom, depends on where you have to land the catfish at. If it is a mud bank
that slopes gentle, you can just beach them after you've worn them down.
If you've got a lot of broken rock on a steep dropoff underfoot, then that
net will come in real handy especially if you are by yourself. If you are in
a boat a net is a good idea because a lot of boats put you in an awkward
position to grab a gill or a lip without impaling your thumb on something
sharp. If you have a teeny boat, you could flip the boat if you aren't
careful reaching for the fish. Nets are useful and for cats they should be
have a large hoop size with a deep netting and a 3ft handle at least.
