Wondering what knot you like best in mono to attach the hook to the leader?

    Snell...Trilene knot...uni knot...or something else...

The knot I use is the Palomar knot. Very strong and reliable.

I've got to agree with SubnetZero on this one. I have a lot of confidences in these knots.:smile2:

I was wandering if there is a place to find out how to tie these knots you all are talking about! I know that I have lost a few because of my knots coming undone! I just never learned how to tie the variouse knots used in fishing. I have been lucky with the ones I have caught!

I have always used the Improved clinch knot with monofilament and have never had the line come undone. I have broken my line in the middle of the leader before while the knot held tight.

I have tied it so many times that I can do it quickly and with my eyes closed so I keep on using it.

Now with braided line I tie a different knot, can't think of the name but it is the one recommended on the package. That is a good knot but I look like a monkey diddling a football while trying to tie it. LOL Haven't got to be too coordinated yet with that one.:smile2:

Palomar on every single connection I make. It's the best knot period.

I used the improved cinch knot since i've been fishing until this year. I switched to the Palomar knot and like it a lot better. It is just as easy (if not easier)to tie than the cinch knot and is hands down a stronger knot. If you use the hooks with the up turned eyes and are concerned with the hook setting straight then you will need to learn how to snell them.

I use the Palomar and the uni knot. They just don't come undone.

Be sure whatever knot you tie you do it right. I've been learnign to how to snell a hook and just make sure you tie any knot the right way so it will hold. My first fish with a snell'd hook i got the fish up to the bank and as soon as i lifted the rod a little the hook came untied and i was left with a leader of line with the little squiggley on the end where the knot was. Now i mostley fish for channelcats and i was mad when this happened to me. I dont wanna imagine how i would feel if it was a big ol' flattheat that untied my knot.

I know this is an older thread, just wanted to add to it. Any knot you tie try adding a small drop of super glue to the knot, the knot will not slip. Good luck.
