If it's in a lake or pond I use bread. With water current you'll have better luck with dry dog/cat food. I ball the bread up tight and put 1-2 balls in there, works great. Good luck.

use 1 -2 handfulls of styrofoam peanuts.

I know, it sounds strange, but just do it. You'll get GREAT results.

Have you ever heard of putting a Budweiser beer can in the perch trap for bait, empty of course. I keep telling myself I am going to try it but keep forgetting too. And I don't drink Bud. I use corn meal in a stocking or bread or dog food or those dog biscuits that look like a bone.

I would agree with this post. After I set the trap I like to cast some crack corn to get them in the area.

best luck i have had is to take a golf ball size chunk of my dough bait and make it extra thick (flour) and then put that in there. I use alot of perch for bait and this works fantastic. I use more perch just cuz i cant cast a net that well yet:embarassed:

i have had the best luck with fish food. you know the little screen containers that open on top made to hold and despense live crickets? well i fill this up with dry fish food pellets(such as for a catfish pond) and put this in the trap. im sure you could use dry dog food in them as well. but it works wonders and will stay in all day and over night. good luck

i use a 3x3 piece of styrofoam tie it to the bottom of the trap so it suspends in the middle of the trap, i guess they see the white color and think it is food because when it gets a dirty color it quits working as well
