People that I meet and work with are always trying to help me but they
just don't understand. I hear the same things over and over. I smile and
tell them I'll check that out and how much I appreciate the help. I am going
to list some things I'm told and then the thought triggered in my mind. I
know you hear them too and I hope you add some of your own.
    1. You ought to get Graphite rods they are more sensitive than fiberglass
    1. I know but can you pull a stump with it. How would it do if you hooked
    a southbound freight train.
    2. You ought to get some clamp on rod holders. I saw them for $ 1.99
    2. If I used those made in china 1.99 rod holders, I would be better off
to just throw all my rods in the river and not have to wait on a bite.
3.I would not get my hands skinned I would get me a gaff.
    3. I would not gaff a fish if I was going to release it.
    4. No way would I wade those snakey creeks. I would buy my minnows.
    4. The kind of minnows I catch are not for sale anywhere I know of.
    5. You ought to get you a bass boat and get rid of that old jon. Bass boats
    are so much more comfortable.
    5. I know but can they float in 6" of water. How do they handle being drug
    up on riprap.
    6. You ought to use wire hooks so if you hang up they would straighten out.
    6. I know but the last thing I want is for a hook to straighten out.
    7. They have life jackets on sale at walmart. They are cheap but they are
all you need. They would pass Coast guard requirements.
    7. Some of the places I fish if I go in the water a life jacket is the only
thing that may save my life. I get the best I can find.
    8. No way would I go to the trouble and expense of fooling with those
    skipjacks.
    8. If you knew what I knew you would.
    9. You ought to nail your cats to a tree to dress them.
    9. I can dress 3 cats while your gone to get the hammer.
    10. You ought to drip your cats in scalding water. The skin will come
    right off.
    10. yea right.
Can you all add some more.

Don't eat those things - they will kill you!
Won't the whiskers shock you? - As if this is the Nile.
You're gonna get fu***d up out there by yourself. - Well everyone I know is afraid to come along.
I'm sure those catfish in that lake have been munching on the missing.
You get to travel and fish whenever you want without a care in the world whereas I cant because I have kids. - Wrap it up!! Thats why you're jealous!!
Why do you go so far away to fish? - Fishing in suburbia is fine if I wish to do so with an audience and about 100 idiots on boats and jetskis turning tricks to impress equally idiotic women. Also if I just don't give a damn about catching fish that appear to have been sodomized.
Lastly - You need to fish for the bream in those office parks - they are as big as a business card. - Maybe if I need bait and a trespassing charge!!:smile2::smile2::wink:!!

Hey, I switched to a bass boat for catfishin! It is more comfortable. Little tippy when on the edge pulling in a monster, gotta power wash it every time I get done fishing, gotta wax the gunwales every other time, gotta polish the rock scratches off the bottom, can't beach it on the wing dikes......man, I sure miss my old jon boat:(

How can you just sit a stare at a fishing pole for 5 or 6 hours, it would drive me nuts.
I wish I could just sit and stare, I never have enough fresh bait in the bucket for that. I spend most of my time walking up and down the river bank trying to castnet shad, or casting my sabiki for skipjacks.

I hear pretty much the same things poppa. I work with a bunch of bass guys. Used to pick on me about only fishing for cats until I brought one of the blues into work in the livewell that threwup a 5lb largemouth he had down his throat. That pretty much stopped the picking once I did that. I tried to tell them what they are catching is pretty much bait. HAHA!!! Took a couple last fall fishing with me and got them hooked up with some nice ones, now I got open invitations from guys willing to tag along with me once they seen some of the pictures and heard the other guys talking about the trip.

Funny how things work out sometimes.

Me --"Thats why its called fishing and not catching, The monsters don't bite all the time and I wanna be there when they do":smile2:

Them -- "You fish all the time and never keep any to eat, why waste your time?"

Me -- "Not a waste of time, its a passion and i'm hooked! Plus, its the Ohio River, I wouldn't eat nothing outta there!":eek:oooh::roll_eyes::smile2:
