Penn230GTO

    Looking at getting the Penn230GTO, probably going to get it. Do any of you have any experiences with these. good or bad

    Its a Penn, should be tough. I'd get a GTI, though, if it fits the pocketbook.

    Penn reels are excellent reels. My only question would be have you looked at the gear ratio?The gear ratio on a 230 GTO is slow at 3.6:1. The 220GTO is 4.2:1 and 4oz less in weight. I would suggest before you purchase that you make a trip to a sporting goods store and handle these reels. Also, as state before, :big_smile: look at the GTI series. Good Luck in your choise.

    I agree. They are quality reels. If you keep it lubricated and clean of debris it should last you quite a while

    Hi, I actually ordered and received two PENN 230GTO reels from Cabelas. Very good looking reels. It's smooth and cast good. It looks very promising. Good luck.
