Anyone have any experience with these reels?

    Penn Seaboy® Reel
    Graphite side plates
    Black-anodized aluminum spool
    Manganese-bronze main gear
    Stainless steel pinion
    Large oversized handle
    Chrome-plated external parts

Looks overly simple to me... Looking for opinions from ya'll!

    Thanks in advance

Never fished a Seaboy, but I have a Penn 85 which is similar and these are stout reels, like all the Penn's. These are still in production in China, and old ones pop up on Ebay occasionally. For medium duty fishing, these reels should serve you well...

They have been a great simple, cheap get the job done Penn saltwater reel in the past. They are not made to handle big fish with heavy mono as the tension can build up on the plastic spool and break it.I have never heard of it happening with the 20 and 30 lb.mono that they were made for.

I love you Brothers and Sisters.peewee.

Chris you may have already read that the spools are now alumminum and they changed the handle to the oversized version as you see on all the higher end penns
