Well to start with the Jigmaster in not a level wind, and the GT2 has a 1 peace frame with I love by the way. Second the gti has a faster retrieve then most Jigmasters. Third is the drag system the Jigmaster drag has a little more power rated at a 24 pound dead weight drag where the gti is 20 pound. But if you ask me the Jigmaster 550 is the better of the 2 reels. I don’t like level wind reels as they will normally break down first and it is normally the worm gear or paw that breaks first. As far as brute power it is hard to bet the Jigmaster with out stepping up to the senator reels like the 3/0, 4/0 or larger

I own a jigmaster 500, and have seen a GT2 cast, and I definitely got the impression that the GT2 would cast much further than the jigmaster. I'll admit that the jigmaster has plenty of drag, though.
