I went to an estate auction today where the family was selling an old fisherman's fishing gear. I bought a Penn Monofil No 25 reel sn 30-155 for $20.00. Did I get a bargain or did I get taken? The reel looks like it was used very little.

You probably did ok, it will probably cost that much for a metal spool if it don't have one on it now. I think the reel is obsolete, but parts are still available, if not Penn, then other brands. I have one, it casts pretty good, but is pretty rough lookin. I got a couple reels at a yard sale for 25 or 30 bucks. Both were in rough shape but work. If you can use it, and catch fish, its ok.
