Pelicans on the Buffalo

    On the Buffalo yesterday and spotted these guys,long way from the ocean,migrating I suppose.

    That's unusual right? You shouldn't have pelicans around there anymore than I should here in Indiana??? huh....

    from what I have been able to find out,they are migrating from Canada on their way to Florida to winter there.The bird book said they can put their open mouth in the water and the water runs thru but the fish don't,hope they keep on moving south,they could sure wipe out a bunch of slicks in a hurry.

    when the pelicans arrive here the crappie are in their winter patterns. usually around the 1st of oct. always a sign that the winter fishing pattern is setting in.

    they actually hang around here all winter and leave in the spring.
