I just purchased a fiberglasss boat and the paint is peeling. What are the steps to remove the old so a new coat can be put on? Thanks

Well, you could just take off the peeling stuff, or use a paint remover or sand it off. I think sanding would be kind of hard on the fiberglass tho. There are paint removers available that are safe for fiberglass. Once thats done, make sure its clean, dry and dull. Paint don't stick to glossy surfaces too well. I know there are threads here on recommended paint for fiberglass boats, I just don't know where they are. A boat dealer or paint shop may be able to recommend something. If the paint is a polyurethane, especially 2 part, it will probably have isocyanates in it, so please read the directions and pay attention so ya remain healthy, its bad stuff.
