I'm going to make a couple of posts here, with photos, of items that hopefully some of you guys can use.
The first is a home bait tank that I made from and old chest type freezer. I went to Lowes and bought a submersible fountain pump, hose, and a piece of pvc pipe. I have about $60 in the entire thing, and it's been doing a great job keeping bluegills and goldfish alive.

I sometimes have trouble keeping bait on the hook. This has helped quite a bit. Using a paper punch, I cut several pieces from an old milk jug, and I use these pieces to help keep the bait from slipping back over the barb of the hook. Put your bait on the hook, then push one of these "keepers" down past the barb.

I read on another post that someone about cut his fingers off by pulling on his snagged up line. I made a couple of tools that I wrap line around, then I can pull on it with no worries. One is made with a piece of plastic pipe, with a piece of rubber hose slid over the pipe. The other is just a piece of hardwood that I shaped on the router. I keep one in my boat and one in my tackle box.

I really like the idea of the bait keepers. I've come up with my own method for pulling on line that is snagged: I just wrap it a few times around a rod-holder and move the boat away with the trolling motor. No muscle strain or cut fingers!!!

Those are some great ideas! Especially the one about the line puller. But with the line puller you might want to use a hard hat or you might end up with a knot on the head if the sinker comes flying back you.
