I had a friend some years ago that caught one in a remote farm pond once.
They're a tropical fish so I doubt it made ait through a winter like the article said.. But Hey... shouldnt that dude get a state record Pirahna recognition any way? lol... seriously

So that where my parents let fluffy go years ago when he outgrew my 20 gallon fish tank! *calls parents in anger* people do that all the time, and the reason being is that the fish WILL not make it through water temps of less than like 55 degress, if I remember right? The fish can't survive through winter anyway, if they could the wabash would be full of them. That's interesting though, thanks chris.

I forgot to add, the reason I know this is I forgot to plug in my water heater for the tank in the winter. Next morning my pacu was dead and the water was about 50 degrees. They don't like cold weather.

I had a coworker last year catch one out of Monroe last year. It was less than a pound and caught it while fishing for crappie with minnows. Nasty little buggers.
