Anybody hunt ginseng in PA. Was out today and found about a dozen but the berries are still green. I'll start picking some next month.

    It's going for $200-$250 a pound dried. 415258137_1440175638_0 (Small).jpg

Oh yeah now thats what I call the fun times. Love to hunt Ginseng that's a given. I planted pounds of seeds on our property in the last several years. Was checking it saturday an the berrys were red on some of it already but for the most part they were green yet. Can't wait till hunting season here in Ohio for it. End of August an off I go everyday pretty much hunting. Last I heard here it will sell for much more then 250, but will have to wait an see how the buyers bid up on it.

Pa season starts Aug. 1....everything I saw still had green berries.
It was going as much as $1,000 a lb. back in 07
You could buy a few cat rods with that kind of money.

Anyone have more info and pictures on it? I know we have lots of it here in Tn. But hard to find out much on it, other then most people will not even talk too you about it at all.
I think I know where lots of it used to be, Have not been back here in years. But it was along a branch that has some plants that looked somewhat like the first picture. If this was it, this spot has pounds of it but I also think the $$ your talking is after its been dried? Is that right?
Would love to find more info on it. Not sure I would ever be able to hunt it. But it would be nice to know about it.:cool2:

oh, thats what that stuff is. it's all over the place behind the house. Think I might pick some of it and see if I can do anything with it. I just never knew it was this close by and available.
