My toggle switch on the bow by the trolling motor hook up got wet. The rubber boot over the toggle switch got knocked off. The outboard keeps trimming up on it's own. The only way to trim it down is on the bow toggle....which is difficult while underway.
I got to the house, drilled out the pop rivets around the cover and dried out the switch and connectors. The motor then stopped wanting to trim up.
Should I just replace the rubber boot portion, or just replace the whole switch?

save yourself the chance of any more moisture being in there or headaches from it. Replace the whole switch.

I never could figure out why anyone needed a problem causing trim switch in the bow of a boat.

Is it really that hard to trim a motor, before going forward to your trolling motor?

I know that switch is a pain, kinda ruined the day. But atleast it will be an easy fix. But if I can find a way, I think I will remove it. It doesnt seem to be a big deal to trim up before hand.
