Does anyone know of a reliable outboard repair shop around Durham/Chapel Hill. I have an old 3.5 hp Sea King (1968) that I need someone to do some tune-up/refurbishing work on.

    Thanks
    Jason

I've seen someone advertise motor repair on Craigslist around Durham.

Unless you can find someone that just likes to work on the oldies its hard to find a shop that will work on a motor that old. They claim that it takes to long and parts are hard to find and they can't make money on it.

boater's world says it is to old, they have a 10 year limit. I can't PM yet, not enough posts. I did speak with a guy that runs a mobile marine repair service. He said he'd work on it, but I'll have to wait until his slow season in the winter because it will take him a while if he needs to track down parts. I'd just scrap the motor, but it has sentimental value since it was my Grandad's. Also, I don't have a few hundred bucks lying around to replace it at the moment.

I know of a fella that is right off of 15/501 way past Sanford, headed toward Southern Pines. It would be a ways for you to go, but he does good work and is honest.
If you are interested, reply here and I'll PM you the number.

I know he works on older stuff, cuz he's worked on mine! LOL
