Out of date on the reels to fish with.

    Been out of country and out of fishing for a while and just getting back into it. Looking for information for equipment for Catfishing from a boat. Any help would be greatly appricated.

    Well for reels i like the Abu Garcia 7000 and 6500c3,for rods for a boat id go for a med/heavy somewhere in the 7 foot range mybe 8 foot.

    I love a good 7 foot Eglass rod and a penn 500 Jigmaster

    Okuma reels are good and they are priced very well if your on a budget. If you have money to spend then look at the shimano calcutta, expensive reel.

    Need more info. Open water, or in among snags and logs. Do you need to make extra long casts, or will moderate casts do? Are you fishing for smaller fish up to 20# or so, or are you targeting trophy cats over 50#? What's your budget? A reel that's perfect for one type of fishing might be totally unsuitable for another type.
