After having caught several 5-6 pounders and about 30 pounds of skillet size fish this year from Cypress Lake at Otter Slough, Missouri Conservation Area. We have hit a dry spell as nothing will work for them channels, dip bait, dough bait, liver, cut bait and night crawlers (from my backyard).
I began trying liver for two days and succeeded in feeding the turtles, nothing else. But tonight I finally caught one on the worms- a channel about 8 inches long. The dogs were happy anyway.
Maybe the dry spell is over.:cross:

With the fish just shutting down like that I bet the channels are starting to spawn there, just that time of year and nothing you can do about it except keep trying. Seems like I've caught my biggest channels on live big bluegill while looking for flatheads, fresh cut shad a close second. Chris
