Found a 1988 Johnson 30hp for what appears to be a really good price and was wondering if any of you had experience with that particular motor good/bad. The motor appears to be in excellent condition, and is a manual start tiller. It would be going on my 1760 PolarKraft to replace the 1986 Johnson 40hp with the blown powerhead I wrote about earlier.

    Thanks in advance!

If taken care of it will give several years of good service. I liked all the omc's built in the seventies and eighties. I would do a compression check and spark test before buying and do a water trial if possible.
You won't notice a whole lot of difference in the 30 and the 40
