Had a great night of snagging. I went down to the James River arm of Tablerock and boated five paddlefish throughout the night. Three were short so I put them back, but my two keepers were pigs. One was a 70 pounder and the other is my personal best of 80 pounds.

Here's some pictures. The night time pic is the 70 and the daytime pic is the 80.

Hmmm...they didn't show up that time either. I could have swore they showed up earlier. Is the sight being goofy?

That's usually all we catch opening night is small males. This was just a really good opening night as far as big ones. My buddies boat had two in it that were pushing 70 also and the rest were 40-50.

Very nice fish! Were there a lot of boats there for the opener? Were all those fish out in the main channel or on flats? How Deep?

There were tons of boats trolling around us, but we stood our ground and fished the same hole all night. I'm not sure what the water depths were because we didn't have a graph, but we pulled some out in really shallow water right off the bank and some off the channel. Seems that we got them in the channel more earlier in the night and towards daylight up in the shallower water.
