...where everything goes wrong. So I went fishing. After my fifth backlash and a birds nest an eagle could take up residence in, I left.

    Couldn't even enjoy that.

Going again Friday, hopefully with a better attitude.

It's still better than sitting at home wishing you were fishing.

Sometimes I have the same problem, so I figure I need more practice casting. Best place for that is where I fish at.

Another reason I take the wife. I hand it to her and I grab another rod and keep on fishing. Keeps me fishing and she feels needed.

Ive been known to dig out the nest, sometimes you dont have an option. But like the fella said up above carry a couple extra poles or maybe a pack of line in your tackle bag.

I know the feeling. Ever knock your lantern over and break the globe?
Or have the rope come out of a styrofoam minnow bucket spilling your
    minnows in the parking lot.

    Friday wasn't much better. LOL

See my post in PA Rivers regarding the record channel cat.

I started to storm an hour into it. Had to wait it out in my buddies van for over an hour. Then my lantern fell over. Nothing broke, but I had to replace the mantles (I had spares!).

I usually do carry two rigs, but that time I didn't. I think I got snagged one too many times and the line stretched out so much it was starting to curl up on me and it was getting caught between the spool and the body of the reel.

I've since put new line on it.

Whenever I get a backlash I figure I'm about to get a bite. I was trying that on Fri, but it didn't work too well.
