Hi folks, I have a 86 chriscraft with a 90 horse evinrude that decided to lose a wristpin and cough up a piston. I got a 77-78? johnson 115 to replace it but the motor doesnt have power tilt/trim. I went to swap out the two and learned that they appear to not be interchangeable. The lower mount bracket is different. I thought I could just swap swivel brackets and thats when I noticed that the pivot shaft looks a little larger on the 86. At this point I was wondering if I could swap powerheads, but upon further inspection I noticed that the driveshaft is a little longer and the water pump has two ports instead of one. So, has anyone else been down this road and could offer me any advice as to how to proceed next?

That 77-78 is in a year all by its self. Nothing in previous or after 78 will fit it.

you should be able to design a adapter plate so your 115 will mount up, or if your lower unit is still good on your 90 you might be able to trade for a tilt/trim unit that will fit.
