old hwy 301 bridge

    has or does anyone fish off the old hwy 301 bridge near santee??
    or would I be better to try the bank somewhere?

    I used to walk my dog on the bridge in the evenings. You can definitely fish off of it, and some folks do, but I don't think you'll catch a big one because you'd have to lift him about 20 feet above the water to get him up to the bridge. It's more like 50 feet around the river channel near the river channel. As far as bank fishing in that area I guess you could go up the lake a little further and fish around the state park.

    Lionel, I tend to agree with Ed. I see folks fishing from there, though, and there may be a little shoreline access from the causeway on the north side, but I'm not certain; it's been a long time since I was there.

    Judy and I were over that way a few weeks ago, and Tommy is right. If you go to the North side there is a spot people fish from the bank, however it looked to be a pretty good cast to get out to the deeper water, but there is a spot for bank fishing.
