A week ago last Saturday the family went over Independence Pass. It was breathtaking. We got to the divide only to be greeted with white out conditions. Was a terrible snow storm. It was brutally cold and very breezy. The ele. was 12, 095 ft. Notice that there are No trees, we were above the treeline! We drove on down into Leadville and on the way back, it was bright, sunny and white. We got some pictures of the tundra pools and of the old town of Independence. Id like to share them with you and I hope you enjoy them.

take care and Bless you all.

And here is a picture of Mt Elbert taken 2 days before Mikes. The snow really started to fill in on the peak in that short time.

Maybe we should have had a gathering out there, lol.

Heres my pictures of Elbert a week after Mike was there. Your right Gary, should've had a get together. Funny we all ended up in the same place a week apart. Thanks for sharing your photos, they are beautiful!

    Amy,

That part of Colorado is one of my favorite places to go, we always seem to gravitate toward the Leadville – Buena Vista area. I’ve been up a few of the mountains, including Mt Elbert and Mt Massive (twice). I’m getting a little old / out of shape for that stuff now, but I still love the area. I’d like to retire out there some day, but Tiffany seems set on going somewhere where the winters are warm. :0a28:

    Thanks for the great pictures!

A gathering where it's warm enough for all to come wouldn't look the same. Not all people like 30's and 40's for highs, lol (on a warm day in the fall).

A gathering just for the sake of gathering might be nice but not too many catfish in Turquoise Lake or Twin Lakes, I don't think.

Amy, those are OUTSTANDING shots! Reminds us so much of the the different times we were in beautiful Colorado. We were camped near Ouray once during the first snow fall of the season. Glad it was the motorhome and not the old popup camper.:eek:oooh:

And thanks for all the pictures you sent Betty and I.
