Old cut bait

    we have some frozen whole gill in the freezer from august, if i thawed these would they work for cut bait?

    I don't think they will work very well as live ,so I would recomend Cut bait, LOL!!!

    I think, they would work good as cut bait. I got some in th frezzer I am going to try.

    One thing about pre-frozen cut bait is, you have to cut it frozen and keep it frozen until it hits the water. Let it thaw out in the water and that will keep the oils organs and blood intact. If you thaw it, then cut it, the organs fall out and the blood and oils drip out before you can get it in the water.

    I have read many posts about cut-bait, but I haven't caught anything with it. I used cut-bait in salt water rivers for stripers and did well, but haven't caught a catfish with it yet. I have tried fresh and frozen bream and shad. I've had lines out with chicken livers, cut bait and live bait and caught them on everything but the cut bait. Maybe it's my rig.
