Going thru what I have before placing spring order saw I have some braid still unopened. Has to be 4 to 5 years old. Kept in shop out of sun.

Think it will be ok to restring some reels with? Most of catches are 5 to 15lbs. A few 20s. This is 50lb braid.

I'm not an expert but I think it will be good to go. Heck the braid on my reels is older than that but I know it's overdue to be replaced.

I think you will be fine. The braid on my reels stay on for about four years. After two years I do reverse which end is on the reel first mostly just because the spool end is not faded. Not sure there is any compromise in strength after four years but it's just the rotation I use.

Zero worries IMO. I've had the same 50lb braid on my channel cat drift rods for at least 8 years.

I have had braid on my surf rod, now cat rod for 10 years. When I started catfishing this year I took the braid off and tied the used end to my backer then spooled it up and had basically new line. I can tell you, I made the mistake of using 50 lbs mono for a leader and when I got snagged on my kayak I could not break it no matter how I tried. Pulled up some old Christmas trees and couple of cinderblocks. So I would say it retained it's strength.

Yep, save that money to use for travel or gear. It won't hurt a thing. I know some of mine has been on reels I use regularly for at least 6 years. The only detriment to the line is that it has faded.

Yeah, the fading bugs me too, swapping ends with the line gives me another couple years of bright color.
