Thomas (my son) and I launched out of Tanners Creek Saturday evening for an overnight catfishing trip. Bait was easy...about 4 throws of the cast net and we had about 5 dozen nice big shad. Headed upriver to the area in front of the casino and after trying a few different holes there and not catching anything, we moved down in front of the power plant. After about 5 minutes there, Thomas ended up catching biggest fish of the night with a 26lb blue. We ended up catching about 5 fish at this spot. Sometime around midnight a HUGE flow of debris came downstream and we stayed anchored at this spot to stay out of it. At sunup, we decided to drift back to the boat ramp and ended up catching 4 fish in the first 15 minutes! It was great...perfect current for drifting. To make a long story short, we caught 22 fish altogether. 3 flatheads, 16 blues, and 3 channel cats. Excellent time with my son. Here are the particulars and some cell phone pics (I really need a new camera..haha).
    Where: Ohio River near Lawrenceburg
    Water Temps: 56-58 degrees
Conditions: Falling river with some debris (Heavy debris from 12AM-4AM)
    Bait: Shad
Structures fished: Dropoffs, holes and flats

    Here are a few pics:

thanks for shareing that info scott. ive doing very well up there lately as well too. the fishing at tanners is really picking up compared to a month ago. And oh yeah i made a phone call for you...the debris you were seeing was from all of the barge fleets in the city. most of the tug boats in the harbor spend the better part of the evening dedrifting their fleets. so thats why it was heavy drift for you that late.

Scott I saw you this morning. I was in a red and white crestliner. You had a better night than we had today. We only put 6 in the boat with the biggest only being 16lbs. I was marking fish all day but they just werent taking. o-well was a great day on the river.

I was with a big ole man who was driving me around and making me throw the net a million times! ended up catching all the bait in the world that day up at the GMR! Won that tourney too.....do u tourney fish any??

Oh yeah went to tanners last night and it was windy as hell so i abused my privledges of the boat captain being my dads best friend and tied off to that gravel barge and caught a bunch of small blues. and caught a bunch of big stripers! and oh yeah dont tie off to barges up there. if you need to ask the boat for permission...chances are youll get it. I didnt ask and they came over to me to run me off. Then saw it was me and BSed with me instead. I also get lucky and can tie off to their tug when they arent moving. Its nice!
