We are getting close to the prime time, but March seems 8 weeks long:mad: My favorite month to fish for flatheads and channels is May, followed by June, then april...All of my fishing is done on the scioto river, and I always pray for good spring conditions, normal rain and no floods....We are getting close, but these last few weeks last 4 ever.

I always consider the first time I have to mow grass that the cats will be hitting..by the 3rd time, it will be flathead time.

I will agree wholeheartedly about no floods. Fought back the ohio too many times now. I also will agree that May and June are the best!

a few more weeks and the big channels should be chasing shad at hoover:)
and that's probably when/where i'll start the season.then it's on to the flatheads when the waters warm a bit.
in the meantime i'll be heading south tomorrow, for a few days of "baitfishing";)
might as well excercise my arms and stock up on some tenessee slab crappies while i'm waiting for the cats to turn on here:D ;)

I've caught one channel in my first two trips out this year. If it weren't for the wind this morning, I'd be out somewhere right now. LOL Definately can't wait until some good weather is here to stay.

We just got a emergency report this morning on Ohio Catfishing in April: Here is the weather report:

April: Will come in as a Mellon and go out like a Wolfman

Temps at the beginning of April will be close to 50 * as days progress the temps will fall into the low teens and by April 15th it should be close to 10* for a high and lows in the single digits.

After April 15th the temps will drop below zero and the H20 Will freeze solid, they do not expect Ohio to come out of this until May 1st, 2006 and then it will be just breaking 32*

The weather channel in conjunction with the Mellon and Wolfman company would like to send there warm thoughts your way..

Good to see Ol' Misfit here. Enjoy your stay Rick.

Guys, I know it seems like "It's" here but next week is going to be COLD, so we're prob 2 weeks away from the real "Start" of the season. I cant wait.
