Ohio Ginseng Season

    Today is the first official day of ginseng season. Went out early this morning an dug a bit over a pound wet. Had this spot located during mushroom season. Gonna get back out there after lunch. Anyone here like doing the ginseng walking an hunting?

    ginseng is a natural energy herb, its supposed to be healthy they sell it in health food places, the wild stuff is supposed to be worth alot of $. if you would find a bunch it would be like a redneck hittin the lottery!

    i go looking around salt fork,Tippecanoe, and Cambridge ohio iv been doing it for over 20 years (dam that makes me sound old :eek:oooh:)so im going to say it like this, iv been hunting it for a while now:smile2::big_smile::big_smile::wink: my dad got me into it,now i get the MONEY:big_smile: i go every other year, this year is my off year, hey let me know how you do ok, do you have a buyer ? my dad dont go any more he s 67 and dont have the wind to do it any more, so i get his spots to now:wink:

    Here is a pic of ginseng James. In 2007 the price of dry root was $1200 lb.

    Been hunting it for over 40 years myself so it does sound like we might be getting older. Great thing about hunting ginseng then selling it, is tax free money that the government never tries to tax us on. Yes I have a buyer that comes down from ? lol. Best to always get past those middle people because it goes through 5 hands to get to the main source. By that time it's 2000 dollars a pound. I'd like to get past one or two hands

    i have 2 places here in col that buy some every year from me , a few years ago she (the owner ) told me she would buy all i could get:big_smile: so i went home and clicked my heels together 3 times for 200lbs, im still waiting on that payload:embarassed::big_smile::big_smile:

    Yes I did do quite well. A little over a pound an a half wet roots. Gonna post some more pic's here soon.

    Me too! That would be a sell there. See how much she is paying this year for dry seng a pound an let me know if you could.
