This sturgeon was caught on the Willamette River just below Oregon City two
weeks ago. It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11' 1".
    It
was 56" around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours and 4 dozen beers
for the 4 guys taking turns reeling.

Well after reading some more info on sturgies I guess it is possible but I cant find any news articles about this catch. Seems kinda fishy to me. But then again I dont believe half of what I see which explains alot, lol

I don't know any of the facts about this fish so I called up to that area and was told that the sturgeon to get that big and at the the bonneville dam in the sturgeon pool there is one that is 900 + lbs, who knows if it is or not but I always see a glass half full not half empty.

Sturgeon are capable of getting that large, as an associate of mine fishes for them in that section of the country. Whether their story is true or not isn't up for me to say, but the fish itself is possible. It is the king of freshwater fish in North America, and beluga sturgeon in Russia get larger than that! Six hours of grappling with a fish is insane. ROTFLOL!!! Thanks for the photo and story...

According to what I can find out the picture and story are true. Not only this fish but other sturgeon of equal size have been caught from this area of Canada.

I found the same fish in four other articles beside this one, I guess everyone wants this fish to be from their water, so who knows where it came from.

That would be one heck of a fight, If you think cats fight wait till ya hook a sturgeon. They do get big, you can fish them up here with the purchase of a tag your allowed one fish on the tag and it must be over 58 inches to be a keeper.
