I just read in a catfishing book about Flathead fishing from the bank where it said to use a baseball size float tied 2 feet above an 8/0 khale hook with live baitfish and to cast upriver and drift the current over and over at varrying distances from the bank. Has anyone out there tried this or a similar method and had success? I'm new to river fishing and only know tightlining on the bottom but have been getting skunked like crazy and need to try something new. All insight is greatly appreciated!
