What have we gained besides a good laugh or two from the recent thread (BOC Hat Give A Way, OPEN TO ALL!)? I think this serves as an important object lesson for us all. I believe it shows the direct consequence of an habitual behavior. We as humans seem to be pleased with our intelligence as comparable to the other lowly animals that share our world. Yet our habits can lead us all to a spontaneous faux pas while navigating our every day lives, or for that matter this site.
So, I think it is, with our favorite nemesis the catfish. The catfish is a creature of limited intelligence and habit, and when you dangle a prize in front of it, say a fresh shad, it may respond with out considering the hook, color, or size of line, even though it should know better from a past experience. It seems habit, will dismiss and ignore, shall I say, the writing on the wall, when in an excited state, as in the yearning for a good meal, or a red hat! It all seems so simple now. I will no longer concern my self with line color, line diameter or hook dimension in the question of spooking a Flathead. It has now been proven to me beyond a doubt, that when the bait is desirable, caution is thrown to the wind and habit influences the final action! :0a1:

Yes, that does APPEAR true, however, follow my hypothesis.

Those that didn't read = eatin size fish that get harvested
Those that did read = monster sized cats that have "learned" to over come their habits.

Using that hypothesis, then the monster cats that we all want don't behave like normal cats

Ya think that the odds of winning are a little improved for those that read, since there are 7 pages of entries that dont count? :)

That kind of what I thought when I read that thread. I actually went and reread it after going to the link and entering trying to find when they said to say sign me up. Kind of neat to be on the right side of the fence for once. :)
