The levee at Oakville has failed. On the Iowa River side.
Earlier today I had heard that they were evacuating from Hawkeye Dolbe ditch to Burlington. They already had planed a mandatory evacuation from Oakville to Hawkeye dolbe to be completed by monday morning. Its about 30 miles From Oakville to Burlington along the Mississippi.
This will probably take some pressure off the Miss levee.
    Hope everyone got out OK

Well there appears to be a difference of opinion.
WQAD Moline reported that the levee had failed.
KWQC now says it is leaking but not broke.
    I dunno

OK the levee has failed like I reported.

There has been some talk about weather or not FEMA will let them rebuild the town.
Several years ago Tri Oak built a multi million bushel grain storage facility at Oakville.
Right now they are trying desperately to empty it before flood waters claim it.
The few buisnesses are moving out with most moving to Mediapolis from what I hear.
Gonna be interesting to see what happens

It appears that semantics plays a part in weather or not a levee fails.
According to some army officer interviewed on KWQC tv.If the levee is only supposed to hold back 30 feet of water and it doesn't hold back 31 feet it hasn't failed.
I've got some personal opinions but I'll keep them to myself.
