Thanks for putting up that video. Maybe she'll be around at thanksgiving! We had two male turkeys hanging around last spring. They liked to chase our cars and peck at the doors. The wife didn't like that. Had to scare them off a few times so she could get to her car and go to work. Those boys were pretty braisin.

It's called (Dusting) they do it to get extra oil off there feathers. Its basicly why we wash our hair to get the oil out so you dont get dandroff. It can also get rid of bugs and other stuff in there feathers.

Thanks for the vid Skammer. Like Mercer said, all turkeys do it to keep the bugs from gettin too bad and dry out the feathers. They will usually dust themselves at least once a day during the spring summer and fall, usually in the afternoon. Alot of times if you walk down the edge of a plowed field that is close to woods where there are turkeys you will see the dust "bowls" that the leave behind. Alot of times there will be feathers around it. In states where you can hunt turkey all day (which will be PA here starting the third week of the spring season next year) its an easy way to find out where the birds are hanging out in the afternoon/evening.
